LONDON HERE I AM

Top Topshop// Trousers Mango// Shoes Acne Studios// Bag Céline// Necklace Jane Kønig

Exciting things are happening at the moment. I have moved to London for the next 4,5 months with my dear friend Malene to study one semester of Fashion Media & Communication at London College of Fashion. I am so bloody excited about it (and a bit nervous too to be honest). Luckily we have a good three weeks until school starts to settle in and explore the neighborhood and the rest of this lovely city. We are staying in a small studio flat in Kensington which is definitely one of my favorite areas of London but I am also determined to widen my horizon and explore new areas (I still haven’t been south of the Thames).

We shot the pictures yesterday (which were a bit gloomy but nowhere near how terrible the weather is today) in South Kensington. The blouse from Topshop I had just purchased the day before after hunting down one of the last ones in my size (it is unfortunately sold out on their website) and I’m so glad I did that. It is just such a good combination of the wrap trend, dots and pleats. It is a bit cropped but paired with black high-waisted trousers and black boots it makes your legs seem very long.

AUGUST WISH LIST

It’s already August and soon it will be autumn… but first lets enjoy the fact that it’s still summer. This time of the year I always try to find some more transitional pieces that work in (almost) all kinds of weather. A pair of cropped woolen trousers paired with black kitten heels (which I used to hate but now love) seem to be a perfect combo for the following month or two while we wait for it to become more sweater appropriate weather. I must admit that I’m a bit excited for fall to come. It just is the best season when it comes to clothes (one word: layering!). Speaking of exciting things to come this bag from Marni is a ‘coming soon’ item on Matchesfashion. Such a gorgeous clean white color and a beautiful detail with the round top handle. It’s a winner!

MY FAVORITE SPOTS IN PARIS

Best sightseeing spots

No Paris trip without a bit of sightseeing. Honestly I couldn’t imagine a trip to Paris without visiting the Eiffel Tower. There is just something magical about it that I will never get tired of.

Another beautiful building I visited on this trip was Palais Royal with the iconic striped piles. I ran past the building at 8 a.m. in the morning which means no tourists in sight. The associated garden is also worth a visit.

Best places to shop

I think Merci must be my number one shopping experience in Paris. The store is so unique and stylish and has the best to offer from both fashion, kitchen ware, home ware and (not to forget) souvenirs. You can easily spend an hour here and if you feel like you need a break luckily they also have a nice little café. I have to try that one out next time I’m visiting Paris.

In general the Marais area is one of my favorites for shopping. The shops are smaller compared to larger shopping areas like Champs Elysées and Rue Saint Honoré but I adore them. I find it much easier to find what you are looking for and the service is often better as well (as the stores are quieter than the larger ones). When you are in Marais anyway you should definitely take a look inside some of the small art galleries. Some of them truly has some amazing art installations and paintings. Other than Marais I would highly recommend you to visit Rue de Charonne in the 11th Arrondissement. Here you will find brands like Isabel Marant, Cos, Sèssun etc. If you are looking for high end shopping the 6th Arrondissement around the Boulevard Saint-German is a great place to go. But bare in mind that everything is very expensive in this areas (that also includes most of the cafés around there).

Best views of the city

…and no these aren’t from the top of the Eiffel Tower as heights can be a bit scary to me. But if you don’t fear heights the view should be amazing from the top. If you haven’t been there before then visit the Montmartre area. Go up all the stairs to the Sacré-Couer Basilica. The view from there is spectacular and one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. You actually get surprised how far you can see.

Another great way to see the city is from one of the many bridges. We watched the sunset from the Pont Neuf. Such a gorgeous view and the atmosphere was so nice.

Best spots to brunch

Paris has really upped their brunching game and more and more healthy cafés are popping up all over the city. Season was a really nice café located in the Marais area with a modern interior and a laid-back atmosphere. The avocado toasts were amazing but I have to admit that croissants aren’t their specialty.

Wild & the Moon is another great small café located in the Marais. It can be really crowded at times but the food was definitely worth it. I highly recommend you to try their banana bread.

Best spots for lunch and dinner

Our best dinner experience was at Brasserie Barbès located in the Montmartre area. Perfect place for dinner and a drink after visiting the Sacré-Couer Basilica. They have some really yummy and filling salads served with delicious tasting bread. Be sure to be seated on the 1st floor as you can see everything from up there. Great place for people watching indeed.

If you are looking for a great place for a casual lunch or dinner I would highly recommend you to visit Da Graziella in the 10th Arrondissement. They serve some great pizzas for a great price. It is a very small and more intimate place and the decor with beautiful tiles on the walls and green marble tables were right up my street.

HOT DAYS IN PARIS

As you probably have seen on Instagram (or red in my latest post) I took a girls trip to Paris last week. We had a wonderful time eating good food, taking long walks through the parks, seeing the sun set over the Seine, looking at art galleries in the Marais district and hitting all the beautiful French fashion stores (yes – I did definitely not go out empty handed). I’m planning on doing a full guide for Paris so stay tuned for that one!

Dress Sessùn

I bought this dress on sale in the small Sessùn store in the 6th Arrondissement. I haven’t actually heard much about the brand, but – oh boy – it surprised me. It has a bohemian vibe to it and lots of the clothes made me think about a urban country girl. The details and the quality is beautiful – which were the exact reason why I fell in love with this dress. Yes it’s ‘just’ black but the belt around the waist makes all the difference. It’s light and flowy (and you can wear it without a bra) and therefore perfect for some hot days in the city.

T-shirt Cos// Skirt Maje// Sneakers Superga// Bag Céline

Another buy I’ve made in Paris was this blue striped skirt from Maje. Again a new brand to me (not all French brands is that easy to get hold of in Denmark). It ticks all the right boxes. Blue, striped and ruffled. What more is there to say?

Dress Ganni

Floral prints have not always been something I fancied but this summer it’s different. In general I think my style has evolved in a more feminine direction which I only see as a positive thing. Why shouldn’t I? Change can be good sometimes.
